Pokémon GO: How to Beat Mega Medicham (Raid Counters)
Beating Pokémon GO’s Mega Medicham can be a fairly easy task if players prepare proper counters to exploit its weaknesses and team up with a reliable group of allies. The new Mega Evolution debuted in the popular mobile game along with 2023’s Festival of Colors event, in which it is featured as the main Mega Raid of the period. Though its initial run is until March 14, 2023, Mega Medicham is a recurring Mega Raid.
The basic form of Medicham was originally introduced with Generation 3’s Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, while Mega Medicham came along with Gen 6’s X and Y. While Mega Evolutions in Pokémon are not featured in the mainline games anymore, they are highlighted in Pokémon GO, and Mega Medicham is but the latest addition. Unfortunately, Mega Medicham is not a great Pokémon to use, but capturing it to register it in the Pokédex is still an option.
Best Counters For Mega Medicham In Pokémon GO
According to Jogada Excelente, a fan profile focused on Pokémon content on Instagram, players who want to challenge and capture Mega Medicham in Pokémon GO should team up with friends. Four or more players are necessary if the average team level is around 30. Alternatively, if their level average is about 40, three or more players are recommended. If all players are level 50, two or more players should suffice – this should be rare since getting to level 50 in Pokémon GO is extremely difficult.
Mega Medicham, like its normal form, is a Psychic- and Fighting-type Pokémon. Due to this typing, it has three weaknesses that players can take advantage of, as listed by the Instagram profile. First, Pokémon GO’s Mega Medicham is weak against Ghost-, Flying-, and Fairy-types, and, luckily, there are many strong Pokémon players can use to exploit that. However, if possible, they should avoid using Flying-types since one of Mega Medicham’s four possible Charged Attacks is Ice Punch.

Beyond the Pokémon listed as Mega Medicham’s best counters in Pokémon GO, players can also use Mega Evolutions or Shadow variants. Mega Banette is an alternative if they do not have a Mega Gengar or Mega Gardevoir, for example. A Shadow Moltres or Shadow Honchkrow, though more susceptible to damage, can also cause more damage to the opponent. Ultimately, beating Mega Medicham should not be much of an issue, and the raid is repeatable in case players want to Shiny hunt it in Pokémon GO.
