Pokémon Go: Johto Tour 2022 Guide

[ad_1]

The Johto Tour event is taking place this February in Pokémon Go. This guide will show all of its bonuses, Pokémon, special research, and rewards.

The Johto Tour is going to be Pokémon Go’s biggest event for 2022. Last year, Pokémon Go debuted the Kanto Tour event, where all of the original 151 Pokémon had the chance to appear Shiny. Not only that, but trainers were able to find and capture a Shiny Mew through the Masterworks Special Research task. It’s important to mention that the Johto Tour is a premium event, meaning players will need to purchase a ticket to participate. Tickets are currently live and can be purchased in-game within the shop for $11.99 USD.

Trainers who purchase the Pokémon Go Johto Tour ticket before February 10th receive a free February Timed Research to unlock a Noibat Hat avatar item. This event will also have its own Masterworks challenge similar to the Kanto Tour. These act as extremely difficult Field Research Tasks that will take players weeks to complete. Last year, trainers were rewarded with a Shiny Mew for completing it. This time around, players will be able to get their hands on a Shiny Celebi.

The Johto Tour event will take place on Saturday, February 2022. Once it begins, trainers who purchase a ticket will be able to participate in all of its special events. A big part of the Johto Tour is that all Pokémon from Gold and Silver will have their Shiny forms in the game, completing the rest of the Johto Pokédex. Therefore, trainers will need to choose between Pokémon Silver or Pokémon Gold version at the start. These are the differences between the two.

Choosing Between Gold or Silver in Pokémon Go

The player will need to choose between one of the below options, and once it’s made, there’s no going back. The big difference between the two is the Pokémon that have their Shiny odds being increased and which Pokémon will be attracted to Incense. If the player has a favorite in Pokémon GO on this list, they should choose that version.

  • Earning Stardust
  • Evolving Pokémon
  • Taking GO Snapshots
  • Rewards: Evolutionary items, Rocket Radar pieces, and encounters with Shiny Celebi and Shiny Gyarados. Shiny Celebi will know the attack Charge Attack Magical Leaf.

Pokémon Go Kanto Tour Comeback

A handful of Pokémon that originate from the Kanto region have evolutions that debuted in the Johto region. These will appear from 9 am to 9 pm local time in Pokémon GO, regardless of whether the player has a  ticket.

  • Chansey
  • Eevee
  • Gloom
  • Golbat
  • Onix
  • Poliwhirl
  • Porygon
  • Scyther
  • Seadra
  • SlowPoké

Habitat Rotations in Johto Tour

Every hour, a new habitat will take over, and each one is inspired by a different location from the Johto region. Different Pokémon will appear during these times in Pokémon GO.

  • New Bark Town: 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Violet City: 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • National Park: 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Goldenrod City: 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Mt. Silver: 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

There will also be new music active in the game during the event. Fortunately, the Masterworks challenge will remain in the game even after the Johto Tour is over. The challenges have yet to be revealed, but trainers are in for a treat if it’s anything like Pokémon Go‘s Kanto Tour. In order to properly prepare for the Johto Tour, trainers should clear out any remaining Pokémon storage they might have.

It’s common for trainers to have their storage fill up in the middle of a big event in Pokémon GO. With the habitats constantly changing every hour, there’s pressure to capture every Pokémon for the Collection Challenge. These Collection Challenges will not return if the player cannot complete them before the event is over. Clearing them out will reward players with an exclusive medal that stacks with other Collection Challenges. There will be a Collection Challenge for each of the different locations, meaning there will be five to complete in total. Since many of the Johto Pokémon already have their Shiny forms in the game, there will only be 12 new additions. On the bright side, these Shiny Pokémon will remain in Pokémon Go even after the event is over. Trainers will have an easier time finding Shiny Pokémon during the event when compared to non-ticketed players, but it’s still possible. Here’s every new addition below:

  • Corsola
  • Donphan
  • Girafarig
  • Hitmontop
  • Hoppip
  • Jumpluff
  • Mantine
  • Octillery
  • Phanpy
  • Remoraid
  • Skiploom
  • Tyrogue

Overall, trainers should take advantage of the evolutionary item rewards for the Johto Tour in Pokémon Go. They are essential for completing those final spaces in the Johto Pokédex. Not only that, but Shiny Hoppip joined the game right before the Johto Tour, meaning trainers will have another chance to find it if they miss out on Hoppip Community Day. While it is ticketed, the rewards and opportunities to find Shiny Pokémon make it worth it. Johto Tour is easily one of the most significant events of the year alongside Pokémon Go Fest.
