Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: Best Greninja Builds For Tera Raids
Greninja’s Tera Raid build in Pokémon Scarlet, and Violet can be a reliable option for tackling high-level activities, mainly due to how swift and precise the Pokémon from Kalos can be. Greninha is a fan-favorite Pokémon, so showing it off in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s Tera Raids is inevitable. Nonetheless, with a proper stat distribution, moveset, Ability, and item, Greninja’s Tera Raid build can be a destructive one.
However, it is important to note that it does not boast many survivability options, like a few bulkier options for these activities. As such, it is unlikely Greninja will ever be a good choice for 7-star raids, but perhaps it can survive through 5-star and 6-star Tera Raids.
Best Stats & Nature For Greninja
Even though Greninja’s highest offensive base stat is Special Attack, Game8 recommends that players should make physical Attack its priority in the Tera Raid build. Therefore, its Attack and HP should be maxed out in the EV (Effort Value) Training, with the remaining points invested in Defense. Hyper Training in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is the next step. To do this, players need to go to the snowy city of Montenevera in the northern section of Paldea after the Pokémon has reached level 50.
To Hyper Train, or IV (Individual Value) Train, they will need a Bottle Cap for each stat they want to max out. The priority is both Attack and HP, but if players have spare items in their inventories, they should consider boosting Defense, Special Defense, and Speed. Because Special Attack is not used in Greninja’s Tera Raid build, it is dispensable. If players do not have enough Bottle Caps, they can buy more at the Delibird Presents stores in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Regarding its Nature, players should use an Adamant Mint to set it to Adamant to boost Attack at the cost of Special Attack.
Best Ability For Greninja
The Greninja offered in the 7-star Tera Raid event came with the Hidden Ability Protean. If players build that specific Pokémon and not an offspring, they must swap its Ability for Torrent. Protean will change its typing into a single one, which is not especially advantageous for many Tera Raids, but Torrent boosts Water-type moves’ power by 50% if Greninja has 50% or less HP remaining. Because it is not a tanky Pokémon, its HP will likely get a beating from stronger opponents, so Torrent is the best for Greninja’s Tera Raid build. To change its Hidden Ability for the normal one, players must use one of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s Ability Patches.
Best Items For Greninja
When it comes to items, Greninja has a few options. Its main objective is to ensure a higher survivability rate throughout the activity, so players should use an HP-restoring item for its Tera Raid build. Game8 recommends Shell Bell, which can heal many HP if Greninja strikes an opponent. Another safe option to play here is the classic and ever-reliable Leftovers. While its restoring capacity is inferior to that of Shell Bell, it heals the user regardless of whether it lands a strike, which can prove very useful during the initial stat-boosting phases of the fight.
Best Tera Type For Greninja
Due to its moveset and Ability, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s Greninja should indisputably have a Water Tera type in its Tera Raid build. However, the creature in the 7-star Tera Raid event has a Poison Tera type, so that needs to be changed. Players must gather 50 Water Tera Shards by doing Water Tera-type Raids and head over to the Treasure Eatery restaurant in Medali. At the end of the corridor, players need to speak to the chef to change the Pokémon’s Tera type to Water.
Best Moveset For Greninja
Best Moves For Greninjaa |
---|
Swords Dance |
Rain Dance |
Liquidation |
Waterfall/Night Slash |
The first recommended move by Game8 is Swords Dance. This should be used at least twice at the beginning of the activity to boost its Attack stat. The second is one of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s best Water-type moves: Liquidation. This is the strongest physical Attack move it can learn, and it is reliable with 10 PP and 100% Accuracy. On top of that, it also has a 20% chance of lowering the opponent’s Defense stat, which is extremely beneficial for the whole raiding team.
Before using Liquidation as its spammable STAB (Same-type attack bonus) move, players should ensure Greninja’s Tera Raid build in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has Rain Dance. It should be used before the offensive session because it boosts Water-type moves’ damage by 50%. The final move recommended by Game8 is Taunt, a Dark-type in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The Status move ensures the opponent will only use offensive moves, thus avoiding stat-boosting, but this is where players get more flexibility. This move can be substituted for two reasons: it can be used by other allies on the team, and having the opponent consecutively strike Greninja is not exactly the best idea due to its lower survivability rate.
In Greninja’s Tera Raid build, Taunt can be exchanged for an additional STAB move, such as Waterfall or even Night Slash. However, teaching it Double Team is the best substitute strategy out there. This is because the Status move increases the Pokémon’s already high evasion stat, granting it higher chances of avoiding the opponent’s attacks and, subsequently, staying alive throughout the raid. Of course, this slot is entirely up to the player, and finding the most adequate Pokémon Scarlet and Violet move to use here can be quite the task.
