Evolving Snorunt into Froslass in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet requires a specific Evolution Item and a particular gender of the Snorunt.

One pocket monster that Trainers will encounter fairly often in Glaseado Mountain in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is Snorunt, an Ice-type Pokémon that evolves into Froslass once given an Evolution Item. For those unfamiliar, Glaseado Mountain is the snowy region on the northern side of the Paldea world map, which players can access by following the valley road north of Medali. Players will find plenty of Snorunts across the frigid wilderness, and they can also encounter Froslass in the province, albeit at a lower spawn rate.

To evolve Snorunt into Froslass in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Trainers must ensure two conditions for the evolution are met. First, players must find and give Snorunt an Evolution Item known as a Dawn Stone. There are multiple ways to acquire this stone, the first being the Porto Marinada Auction House. The Auction is unlocked by winning Kofu’s Seaweed Bidding Auction during the Cascarrafa’s Gym Test. Once the test has been cleared, players can access the Auction and bid on a wide assortment of goods, which might include a Dawn Stone. However, the offerings are unreliable due it the sellers’ RNG-oriented nature.

Evolving Snorunt into Froslass in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Another way to get a Dawn Stone for evolving Snorunt into Froslass in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is by registering 270 Pokémon into the Paldean Dex. The reward for achieving this milestone will be a guaranteed Dawn Stone. Dawn Stones can also be found in the open world. For instance, YouTube content creator AggronHD has demonstrated that a Dawn Stone Evolution Item can be found in the ruin up the hill northwest of Medali.

Game8 states that another Dawn Stone can be found on a rocky plateau northeast of Levincia, near the river leading into the eastern sea. Moreover, Game8 claims that the sparkling nodes around the settlement of Zappapico have a slight chance of yielding Dawn Stones.

Once players have acquired a Dawn Stone, they have only met the first condition for evolving Snorunt into Froslass in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The second is ensuring that the Snorunt selected is female. If the Snorunt is male, it cannot interact with the Dawn Stone, preventing it from evolving into Froslass.

Furthermore, if a male or female Snorunt reaches Level 42, they will automatically turn into Glalie. Therefore, Trainers must make sure they catch a female Snorunt while exploring Glaseado Mountain, after which they can give it a Dawn Stone and evolve it into Froslass in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
