Reacher Season 2 Release Date Teased By Amazon Studios Exec

Reacher Season 2’s potential release date is teased by Amazon Studios’ Head of Television, with the new season expected to adapt Bad Luck and Trouble.

Amazon Studios’ Head of Television Vernon Sanders has commented on the progress of Reacher season 2, and has hinted at a potential release date. Based on the best-selling book series by author Lee Child, Amazon’s Reacher features former Titans actor Alan Ritchson as the titular character. A former military police officer-turned-drifter, Ritchson’s Jack Reacher has a penchant for seeking out trouble and battling dangerous criminals wherever his travels take him. Amazon officially announced Reacher season 2 was in development a mere three days after season 1 premiered on Prime Video in February this year.

With filming on the new season only kicking off in late September, it is still not clear when audiences can expect to see Ritchson’s Jack Reacher return to their screens. However, in a recent interview with Collider, Amazon Studios’ Head of Television hinted that the sophomore season is likely to arrive sometime in 2023. Praising Ritchson’s casting in the role, Sanders suggested that season 2 will deliver beyond the expectations made by this year’s series debut. He also said that “I do think there’s a good chance that that show will be back next year.” Check out his full comments below:

It’s going really well. Alan is back, and he is so fantastic in the role. I’m so proud of the producers [for] finding that fit for Reacher. The Reacher fans of the book, their reaction to the show has just been a dream. Season 2 is awesome. And as great as season one was, I think season two delivers beyond that, and I do think there’s a good chance that that show will be back next year.

What Can Fans Expect From Reacher Season 2?

Praised for delivering a version of the character truer to the original books than Tom Cruise’s turn in the role for 2012’s Jack Reacher and its 2016 sequel, audiences can continue to expect to see Ritchson’s former MP land himself in trouble throughout season 2. Taking its cue from the original source material, season 2 will take place in an entirely new location with a whole new set of characters. As such, viewers should not expect to see the return of Willa Fitzgerald’s Roscoe or Malcolm Goodwin’s Captain Finlay from season 1. However, Maria Sten’s Frances Neagley, who is a recurring character throughout the books and a friend of Reacher from his time in the military, is expected to make her return.

As for what challenges lay ahead for Ritchson’s Reacher, season 2 is expected to deliver a far more personal crusade for his physically imposing character. While Reacher season 1 drew its inspiration from the original Jack Reacher book, 1997’s Killing Floor, season 2 will skip ahead to the eleventh book in the series, 2007’s Bad Luck and Trouble. In this book, Reacher is faced with investigating the systematic murders of his old comrades in the U.S. Army’s 110th MP Special Investigation Unit. And, unlike the small-town setting of season 1, if season 2 follows Bad Luck and Trouble closely it should see Reacher making waves in both Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

Joining the cast for the new season is The Vampire Diaries’ Shaun Sipos, who is set to play David O’Donnell, one of Reacher’s former brothers-in-arms who is also heavily wrapped up in the unfolding mystery. Other actors previously confirmed for the season include Serinda Swan (Inhumans), Ferdinand Kingsley (The Sandman), and Rory Cochrane (Antlers). Boasting an impressive cast and action-packed source material, fans will no doubt be clamoring to see what Reacher season 2 has in store for them now that they know it is likely to hit sometime next year.
