Sam & Dean’s Grandparents Are Now ALL In The Supernatural Business

[ad_1]

Millie Winchester is now the last of Sam and Dean’s grandparents to enter the family supernatural business by hunting with John and his friends.

Warning: Contains spoilers for The Winchesters season 1, episode 9.

The Winchesters introduced Supernatural viewers to Sam and Dean Winchester’s fourth grandparent, Millie Winchester, a mechanic from Lawrence. The previous few episodes of The Winchesters had shown Millie getting into the supernatural business with her son John. With Millie joining John and his friends, it now means that all four of Sam and Dean’s grandparents were somehow involved in hunting the supernatural.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

It was established in Supernatural that Sam and Dean’s maternal grandparents Deanna and Samuel Campbell were hunters who were killed by the yellow-eyed demon. Henry Winchester was a member of the Men of Letters and was killed by Abaddon in Supernatural season 8. A lot was learned about Henry after the revelation that they were legacy members of the Men of Letters. Henry even made a cameo in The Winchesters episode 7 in a séance.

Millie, who didn’t want John to go down the same path as his father, reluctantly agreed to support John in whatever way she could. Through this, she’s gotten acquainted with The Winchesters‘ Mary, Carlos, and Lata, but has connected much more with Ada, who is also a mother. Millie seems interested in learning all she can to help John, and learn more about Henry’s life before he died. Though she is by no means a seasoned hunter, she can hold her own.

With Millie joining her son on hunts, it now means that all four of Sam and Dean’s grandparents were somehow involved in the supernatural business. So far, The Winchesters have introduced all but one of the Winchester’s grandparents. Millie is a series regular, Henry cameoed, and Samuel (Smallville star Tom Welling) appeared at the end of The Winchesters episode 7 and was featured in episode 8. Only Deanna Campbell has yet to be seen, but Mary explained that she was in Minnesota hunting with friends.

Where Is Millie During Supernatural?

Henry Winchester in The Winchesters

With Millie now helping John and his friends out with hunting in The Winchesters, it seems like it was inevitable that Sam and Dean would eventually become hunters. Though The Winchesters has a big focus on Millie as one of the only parental figures, she was barely ever mentioned in Supernatural. However, after getting to know Millie, she wouldn’t have approved of how John raised Sam and Dean. It would make more sense for her to have died. It’s still possible that The Winchesters takes place in a parallel universe, which means that Sam and Dean’s grandmother wouldn’t have known that John was hunting, or would’ve known what it was at all.

Millie Winchester was already a strong and independent woman, but now that she’s joined her son John in hunting, it makes her story more meaningful to the larger Supernatural canon. Sam and Dean Winchester know that three of their grandparents were involved in the supernatural business, but now Millie completes the missing link of hunters. With Dean returning in The Winchesters, he may find out about Millie hunting for the first time, and have some great interactions with his grandmother.
