Scarlet & Violet’s Worst Pokémon Is Trolling With A 1% Evolution Rate

[ad_1]

One of the most-mocked Pokemon has finally received an evolution in Scarlet and Violet, and developers may be trolling players with its quality.

One of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet‘s worst Pokémon has received a joke of an evolution, with chances for a variation of it clocking in at a measly 1%. Scarlet and Violet have brought many new Gen 9 creatures with them while also providing updates to existing Pokémon, changing everything from their typical move-sets to the way they evolve.

Dunsparce has finally received a deserved Pokémon evolution in Scarlet and Violet, but the nature of it feels more like a troll from Game Freak than an improvement. The creature can now evolve into Dudunsparce, who looks nearly identical to the original except with one extra fang, additional wings, and either one or two more body segments. According to Serebii, a Dudunsparce with three segments is incredibly rare, with only a one in 100 chance of the creature evolving into that form.

Dunsparce’s Pokémon Evolution Is A Lot Of Work With Little Pay Off

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Dudunsparce Common Two-Segment Variation

While Dudunsparce is far from the first Pokémon to have different evolutionary options, its addition in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is perhaps the most underwhelming one to come to the Pokedex yet. To evolve Dunsparce into Dudunsparce in Scarlet and Violet, players must level up the Pokémon to level 32 and opt for it to learn the move Hyper Drill. After this, the next time Dunsparce levels up it will evolve into Dudunsparce – however, players ensuring they get their hands on a three-segmented one is much more difficult.

Considering how unexciting and unchanged Dudunsparce is already from Dunsparce, it’s surprising that players are spending time at all to evolve the largely unremarkable Pokémon, and even more surprising that some are spending hours searching for and breeding the creatures in the hopes of acquiring a special, three-segment one. Breeding is often used by players looking to give their Pokémon special abilities in Scarlet and Violet, but it can also be used for cosmetic effect, with this being a perfect – albeit unexpected – example.

After fans have waited over two decades to see Dunsparce get an evolution, to call Dudunsparce anticlimactic would be an understatement. Many fans had been hoping for a similar situation to Metapod’s change into Butterfree where Dudunsparce would take on a completely different form, but it’s barely changed at all. However, all Pokémon Scarlet and Violet players have their individual favorites, and some are still having fun hunting the elusive three-segment variation.
