Selena Gomez Reveals Her Biggest Wizards Of Waverly Place Mistake

[ad_1]

Selena Gomez opens up about her time on the hit Disney Channel series Wizards of Waverly Place, revealing her biggest regret after the show ended.

Selena Gomez opens up about her biggest regret following her time on the hit Disney Channel series Wizards of Waverly Place. The celebrated actor and singer, who currently stars on Hulu’s Only Murders in The Building, first rose to prominence through her starring role on the popular teen fantasy sitcom. Gomez’s portrayal of sarcastic teenager Alex Russo, the only daughter in a family of wizards who run a restaurant in New York City, garnered her acclaim throughout the series’ four-season run and propelled her into the mainstream, where she has been a dominant figure ever since.

Joining her former co-stars Jennifer Stone and David DeLuise on their podcast, Wizards of Waverly Pod, Gomez shares that her biggest regret has been losing touch with the rest of the Wizards of Waverly Place cast after the popular Disney show wrapped.

Speaking of the well-documented toll that fame and her heavily publicized relationships took on her mental health, Gomez opens up about how her desire to hide her personal struggles from her former co-stars ultimately left her feeling isolated from them. Check out what Gomez says below:

“[My biggest mistake was] probably not staying in touch with you guys. I think I slowly became kind of ashamed. I felt ashamed of the decisions that I made. I didn’t want you guys to see me in the state that I was in, because A, you would have told me the truth, which terrifies me, and B, I didn’t want to let you down.”

Will There Ever Be a Wizards Of Waverly Place Reboot?

Gomez’s podcast reunion with Stone and DeLuise, who played Alex’s best friend and father respectively, has further fueled interest in a Wizards of Waverly Place reboot. Rumblings of such an idea haven’t been kept to strictly online spaces either. In a previous episode of Wizards of Waverly Pod, DeLuise and Stone confirmed that all of the main cast members, including Gomez, are interested in filming a reunion.

While there is no official word on whether a Wizards of Waverly Place revival can be expected, the show’s cast has made it clear that the familial bond they formed while filming has remained strong over a decade later. Gomez and Stone previously reunited in a nostalgic TikTok where they recreated the iconic “funky hat” dance that their characters performed in Wizards of Waverly Place season 1. David Henrie, who played Justin Russo, also shared a somewhat cryptic TikTok with Gomez, which many took as a hint that the pair could be gearing up for an onscreen reunion.

The entire core Wizards of Waverly Place cast also reunited at Henrie’s 2017 wedding, sharing pictures that made it clear they have remained important figures in one another’s lives. With fellow Disney Channel hits like That’s So Raven and The Proud Family being rebooted in recent years, it seems more likely than ever that Wizards of Waverly Place could be next. Hopefully, Gomez’s busy schedule will eventually allow room for her to return to the role that prompted her rise to global stardom.
