Sons of the Forest: How to Get Rest & Shelter

[ad_1]

Like many survival games, Sons of the Forest requires players to rest and build a shelter to regain stamina and survive the nightmares of the island.

Building a shelter is one of the most important things players can do in Sons of the Forest, as it allows them to sleep and save their game. Without rest, players will have severely reduced stamina. Furthermore, if they die without a saved file, they will lose a lot of progress. Therefore, finding a place to sleep should be one of the earliest tasks to accomplish in the game.

While making the best base possible is a vital part of Sons of the Forest, players should ensure they can provide for their needs before worrying about extravagant constructions. One of the best ways to do this is to head for one of the green flashing dots on the player’s GPS. These flashing dots lead to cave systems that may hold a sleeping bag or bed. Although lacking in defense, these sleeping bags are a great starting point to sleep and get shelter.

Players can save their game or sleep when presented with a bed or shelter in Sons of the Forest. In multiplayer, all players must agree to sleep to progress, but they can all share one shelter or sleeping bag. Players should drink some water and collect food in Sons of the Forest before or immediately after sleeping, as sleeping fills up the rest meter but decreases the water and food meters. It is also better to sleep at night rather than during the day since players who sleep during the day wake up in the dark.

Pre-designed cabins and uniquely constructed houses are not equipped with a bed or shelter to save the game. Players can either sleep on a stick bed or inside a tent. Tents are constructed from a tarp and two sticks, making them the easiest way to rest in Sons of the Forest. Players can find some tarps at the start of the game and at points of interest, like campsites containing some of the disgusting foes in Sons of the Forest. Sticks are easily collected from saplings and random spots on the ground. Players can build these simple tents by propping the two sticks underneath the tarp along two corners.

Stick beds require sixteen sticks and a roll of duct tape, providing players with a simple place to rest. Duct tape can commonly be found in yellow crates around the island. Whether players build a tent or a stick bed depends on their circumstances. If players stumble upon a campsite, they should save their game just in case they come across a dangerous cannibal and don’t have one of the best weapons for survival. On the other hand, if players can find or craft a tent, they can rest through some of the horrors of Sons of the Forest.
