Bella Ramsey reveals The Last of Us showrunner Craig Mazin pesters the Ellie actor with one famous Game of Thrones line said by her former character.

The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey is pestered by showrunner with one particular Game of Thrones line. Before playing the role of Ellie in HBO’s popular new video game adaptation The Last of Us, Ramsey starred in Game of Thrones as the young but mighty Lyanna Mormont, the Lady of Bear Island and leader of House Mormont. The actor’s The Last of Us co-star Pedro Pascal also had a stint in Game of Thrones as the enigmatic Prince Oberyn Martell of Dorne.

In a new video for HBO Max while promoting The Last of Us, the pair revisit several lines from the popular fantasy series, discussing their favorite quotes said by their characters as well as some that they have not been able to escape.

While Pascal and Ramsey have earned heaps of praise for their roles in The Last of Us, they are still often recognized for their Game of Thrones characters, and not just by fans. In the video, Ramsey reveals that one of Lyanna’s many memorable lines has followed the actor to the set of her new HBO series, stating that The Last of Us co-showrunner Craig Mazin loves to quote the phrase “we’re not a large house, but we’re a proud one” to Ramsey. Lyannna and Ellie Have Plenty In Common

Ramsey played a smaller role in Game of Thrones as Lyanna, though the tough character stood out from the leaders of other houses due to her age and bravery until the character’s heroic death scene in season 8, episode 3, “The Long Night,” which Ramsey has previously recalled with fondness. During her time on Game of Thrones, Ramsey earned acclaim for her nuanced performance as Lyanna, and the praise for Ramsey’s talent has only grown. In The Last of Us, Ramsey plays a central role and is already earning more notoriety for the part of Ellie, which makes it amusing that Mazin has a tendency to recall the actor’s previous job by quoting Lyanna.

It’s no surprise that Mazin has been inspired to quote Lyanna on set of The Last of Us considering the similarities between Ramsey’s previous character and current role. While Game of Thrones and The Last of Us exist in very different worlds, the quick-witted teen Ellie and stately young Lyanna share many notable traits. A fan-favorite character, Lyanna’s wisdom beyond her years, perseverance, and boldness led to many memorable moments throughout her time on the fantasy show.

Similarly, Ellie is young but tough, stubborn, heroic, and intelligent. Both Ellie and Lyanna have no qualms speaking out against those that are bigger and stronger or that have more authority over them. Likewise, both can be trusted to deliver witty and thought-provoking retorts when they are underestimated. With a couple of episodes to go, it’s likely that fans of both shows will see more and more of Lyanna in Ramsey’s Ellie as The Last of Us season 1 continues to unfold.
