New The Last of Us episode 6 images tease a tense reunion for Joel and Tommy. Now halfway into its first season, HBO’s video game adaptation has become a certified hit, drumming up major talking points week after week. The next episode of The Last of Us is all but guaranteed to feature even more, one of which has already been revealed by HBO. After being separated for some time, estranged brothers Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Tommy (Gabriel Luna) are set to finally reunite as Joel’s perilous journey with teenager Ellie (Bella Ramsey) brings him to Wyoming.

Ahead of The Last of Us episode 6 premiering on Sunday, February 19, HBO has unveiled a batch of new images from the installment. Check them out below:

In addition to featuring shots of Joel and Ellie in a snowy landscape, likely right before they reach the Wyoming settlement, the Last of Us images offer several peeks at Joel’s reunion with his brother. While their initial greeting comes with smiles and comforting touches, it looks like things soon grow tense between the siblings.

What To Expect From Joel & Tommy’s Reunion

Pedro Pascal as Joel in The Last of Us Episode 6

Though Joel has been searching desperately for Tommy throughout The Last of Us‘ first five episodes, the brothers didn’t leave things on especially good terms when they separated. According to Joel, Tommy got involved with the revolutionary group the Fireflies some time ago, and it was a decision that put a strain on his relationship with Joel. Additionally, Tommy’s trauma from the more unsavory things he and Joel did to survive only contributed to their split. Because of that, their reunion in The Last of Us episode 6 will likely become bittersweet very quickly.

Joel hopes that Tommy’s Firefly contacts will help him with his task in transporting Ellie to a safe location, though based on the new images and what was revealed in the Last of Us episode 6 trailer, it probably won’t be a smooth partnership. Joel still distrusts the Fireflies, and since Tommy’s involvement with them sparked the brothers’ rift, it will be a sore spot. Beyond that, Tommy has made a life out in Wyoming alongside Rutina Wesley’s character Maria, who is also included in the Last of Us images. If Tommy has found some semblance of peace, he might not be so willing to get tangled up in Joel’s mission.

So far, The Last of Us has kept in line with the video game, only making changes when they serve to heighten the overall impact of the story. Since the major plot developments of the game have remained intact, it is likely safe to say the Last of Us television series will continue to follow along with its source material. Knowing that, gamers can likely anticipate what will come next, though there will be some surprises ahead. All that is clear now is that The Last of Us is gearing up for a family reunion, and it’s going to be emotional.
