Although he denies ever loving his ex-wife Christine Brown, Sister Wives fans think that Kody Brown has started to realize how much she meant to him and the family. In a recent episode, he described feeling like he was being choked by his sweatshirt, while driving by Christine’s former home in Flagstaff, Arizona. This feeling was interpreted as a form of anxiety, or an outright anxiety attack, and fans think that they know what caused it.

Kody and Christine’s relationship has been rocky for years, but it seemed like Kody never expected Christine to leave him. The divorce came as a shock, and in its aftermath, the reality star has been struggling in his other relationships. COVID-19 finally infecting Robyn Brown and her children seemed to be the last straw for Kody. The stress of having a house full of sick family members left the patriarch feeling run-down and anxious, much to the concern of his wives. Fans believe that, in light of Christine’s relocation to Utah, and his quarantine period, Kody has had time to reflect on his life. He is perhaps now fully understanding what Christine brought to the family for so many years. Some fans think that the family, “unraveling” has shocked Kody, and led him to realize that Christine was the, “heart and soul” of the clan. Even if he didn’t love her, “he [loved] and [valued] her role in the family.” The realization that she held the family together may have caused Kody immense stress and anxiety, as her empty role will need to be filled by someone else, to maintain the status quo.

Does Kody Have Trouble Dealing With His Emotions?

He is increasingly erratic, with accusations of Kody using Janelle for money, living monogamously with Robyn, and using coronavirus precautions as an excuse not to spend time with family. With all that transpired in a short period of time, it’s no wonder that Kody is feeling overwhelmed. Fans think that the patriarch has limited experience managing bad emotions, and was “shocked” to find himself dealing with emotions, without “the tools” to handle them.

Other fans are less empathetic toward the father of 18 on the Reddit thread, calling him, “self-absorbed” and unable to take responsibility for his actions. His outbursts at his remaining wives often rub followers the wrong way, with many considering him unfair in how he encourages his wives to act like Robyn. The problem is that he also reprimands them, asking them “to not make comparisons to other relationships.” Kody’s claims that he won’t go out of his way for Janelle show disrespect, and his confusing rhetoric about women being ‘loyal‘ to him as the head of the family have viewers perturbed. Many anticipate that he’ll end up alone in the future, if he is unable to regulate his emotions in a more efficient way.
