Where To Watch Every Indiana Jones Movie Online (Not Disney+)

[ad_1]

Where are the best places to stream the Indiana Jones movies? The franchise itself is owned by The Walt Disney Company, but fans may be surprised to learn that the classics aren’t available on Disney+. They also didn’t appear on any major streaming platforms for a very long time either. However, with a new movie coming to theaters in 2023, that has changed. Directed by James Mangold, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny features the return of Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones and Mads Mikkelsen as the villain, a former Nazi.

Before this, there are four existing Indiana Jones movies, released over several decades between 1981 and 2008. In the movies, Harrison Ford plays the titular Indiana Jones — a wise-cracking archaeologist-treasure hunter armed with a whip, gun, and personality not too dissimilar from Harrison Ford’s own Star Wars character Han Solo. Long-time fans of the Indiana Jones franchise are familiar with the storyline, but young streamers may be curious about a proper binge from the beginning. Trying to find Indiana Jones streaming somewhere might feel like an archeological dig at times, so here’s where to watch Indiana Jones online.

Why Isn’t Indiana Jones On Disney+?

There are four Indiana Jones movies. The franchise begins with the aforementioned 1981 movie Raiders of the Lost Ark and continues with the 1984 sequel Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. From there, streamers should check out the third franchise movie, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, along with the most recent release, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, a 2008 update starring Ford alongside Cate Blanchett, Karen Allen, and Shia LaBeouf. Disney acquired LucasFilm in 2012, and with it the Indiana Jones franchise as well as other popular IPs like Star Wars, so Indiana Jones streaming on Disney+ feels like a shoo-in.

However, unlike the space opera starring Harrison Ford, his pulp-action historic outings as Indiana Jones are suspiciously absent from Disney+. The reason for this is licensing. Rival studio Paramount released the first four Indiana Jones movies with LucasFilm, prior to the merger with Disney. Paramount still contractually held distribution rights to the franchise despite Disney owning the intellectual property and trademarks. This is why Indiana Jones movies aren’t on Disney+. When Disney+ launched in 2019, the four Indiana Jones movies were available on Netflix as part of a deal with Paramount, but Paramount moved them to Paramount+ in 2021.

Indiana Jones Movies Are Streaming On Paramount+ & Prime Video

The Indiana Jones movies were available to stream for free with a Paramount+ subscription and were marketed as one of the flagship platform’s key offerings. However, at the end of December 2021, the Indiana Jones movies were quietly removed from Paramount+. This seemed like an odd move since Paramount still held the rights to all four movies, and they remained popular streaming choices on the fledgling platform. There were thoughts it might have something to do with Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny being co-released by Disney, with the possibility of a future Disney+ home.

However, that wasn’t likely the situation. Instead of moving on to Disney+, all four earlier Indiana Jones movies are not only back on Paramount+, but they are also now available to stream on Amazon Prime Video as well. With Indiana Jones stuck in between Paramount and Disney (similar to Spider-Man at Disney and Sony), there is a chance the new movie also heads to Paramount+ and Prime Video, just as the Spider-Man movies don’t go to Disney+, but show up on Starz, where Sony has their first-look deals set up.

Indiana Jones Movies Are Available In Other Ways

The Indiana Jones movies are available on two major streaming platforms – Amazon Prime Video and Paramount+. However, there are other ways to watch this franchise even without subscribing to those two platforms. For fans who prefer renting movies rather than paying for all the streaming services, the Indiana Jones franchise is available in a lot of places. Anyone can rent the Indiana Jones movies on Prime Video, Google Play, YouTube, Redbox, Spectrum on Demand, Apple TV, Vudu, AMC on Demand, DirecTV, and Alamo on Demand. There are clearly lots of places to watch for fans who rent movies.

Of course, for people who fall in love with the Indiana Jones movies, they are always for sale. There are also plenty of ways to buy them as well. Digitally, fans can buy the movies in the franchise everywhere from Amazon and Apple to Vudu and brick-and-mortar stores. Individually, the movies are on DVD, Blu-ray, and on 4K UltraHD. There is also a chance to get the collection, with the 4K versions running $62.99 at Amazon for the four movies already released. This 4K boxset also includes digital codes to watch without the discs.
