Original Who’s the Boss star Alyssa Milano shares an update on the sequel series, which will also star Tony Danza, revealing plot details.

Who’s the Boss star Alyssa Milano shares an update on the sequel series. Starring Tony Danza and Judith Light, Who’s the Boss ran for eight successful seasons from 1984-1992. Created by Martin Cohan and Blake Hunter, the family sitcom was one of ABC’s most popular offerings. Earlier this year, Milano, who starred as Tony’s daughter Samantha, revealed that a Who’s the Boss sequel series had been developing for years.

Now, the actress gives an update on the revival series. Per ETOnline, Milano discloses plot details for the Who’s the Boss sequel series. Milano revealed that the follow-up to Who’s the Boss would focus on the relationship between Tony and Samantha as a retired Tony helps his daughter with her kids. It’s unclear if Tony will live with Samantha, but Milano revealed the show is set in the same house as the original sitcom. Check out what Milano said about the sequel series’ plot below:

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

It would be Tony coming to take care of my children because I get a job that makes me travel a lot, so it’s that whole dynamic. But also, the generational difference between raising a child now versus then, which is always the conflict that I have with my parents in real life about gentle parenting. So I’m really looking forward to that aspect of it.

Who’s The Boss Characters That Could Return

For now, Danza is the only confirmed original cast member to star alongside Milano in the sequel series. Set thirty years after the events of Who’s The Boss, the comedy series has ample opportunity to feature the return of Light as Angela Bower and Danny Pintauro as Angela’s son Jonathan. Indeed, the potent chemistry between Danza and Light was one of the reasons Who’s the Boss was successful, and a guest appearance from Light would draw in fans of the original series. Of course, the sequel series could pay tribute to the late Katherine Helmond, who played Mona Robinson.

Written by Mike Royce and Brigitte Muñoz-Liebowitz (One Day at a Time), the new installment to Who’s the Boss is set to air on Amazon Freevee. According to Milano, the sequel series could begin filming soon. With the series having a home, attached stars, and writers, it’s to be expected that more casting announcements will follow.

In an era of reboots and revivals, it’s no surprise that Who’s the Boss is getting a new beginning at Amazon Freevee. It appears Milano is focused on nodding to the original series while ensuring the sequel tackles relevant issues and the struggles of single parenthood in today’s society. Setting the Who’s the Boss sequel series in the same home as the original will offer plenty of nostalgia while solidifying the sitcom’s timelessness. For now, Who’s the Boss fans may not have to wait much longer to see Danza and Milano back in action as Tony and Samantha.
