Why One Law & Order Star Feels Bad For Benson & Stabler Shippers

[ad_1]

Law & Order star Danielle Moné Truitt expresses sympathy toward viewers who are still hoping that Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler will be together.

One Law & Order star admits that she feels bad for Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler shippers. After giving long-time followers hope that the pair will finally act on their feelings for each other, Law & Order: SVU didn’t deliver on that promise after Benson evaded Stabler’s attempt to kiss her. The bait-and-switch tactic is understandably frustrating for those strongly rooting for them to finally be together.

As it turns out, Law & Order: Organized Crime actress Danielle Moné Truitt shares the feeling, telling People that she feels bad for those who continue to wait for a Benson and Stabler romance pay-off. She also urges NBC to finally deliver on the promise that Stabler and Benson will finally be a couple. Read her full quote below:

“Sometimes I feel sorry for the shippers because I’m, like, I don’t know if they’re taking you guys on a ride or what. For y’all’s sake, I hope something happens with them. I think they tricked you guys last week. Hopefully one day.”

Why Stabler & Benson’s Law & Order Story Is No Longer Interesting

Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler in Law and Order SVU

Benson and Stabler were close partners for years in the SVU department, until he abruptly left the force in Law & Order: SVU. This was due to the nature of Christopher Meloni’s exit from the franchise. Still, it forced Benson to move on with her professional and personal life because she just didn’t lose a partner, she also lost a great friend when Stabler essentially disappeared.

While Law & Order: SVU was successful in leaning on the will-they/won’t-they dynamic for the pair, it’s too late to actually move forward with this dynamic. Stabler losing his wife may have allowed him to finally pursue Benson, but him waltzing back into her life simply because he isn’t tied down anymore isn’t fair to Bendon. The character has grown so much since they were detective partners in SVU, and it’s quite absurd that she is forced to deal with the complications of this potential romance.

However NBC wants to resolve this narrative it will be important that they do it sooner rather than later. While romances have always been part of Law & Order storytelling, they aren’t the main focus. The franchise cannot further lean into this any longer, especially if even cast members like Truitt recognizes that it is starting to get very frustrating
