[ad_1]

With Frasier Crane coming back to Boston, Kelsey Grammer gives a cryptic answer when asked if the Frasier reboot will visit the Cheers bar.

Kelsey Grammer has a cryptic answer when asked if the Frasier reboot will visit the Cheers bar, since the show will be set in Boston. First debuting as a supporting character on Cheers season 3, Frasier was Diane’s rebound boyfriend following her breakup with the bar’s owner, Sam. Despite starting out as a guest star, Frasier was eventually promoted to a series regular and was even awarded a Seattle-based spin-off, Frasier.

Since it has been confirmed that the Frasier reboot will be set in Boston, it’s curious if this means that it will visit the Cheers bar, and Grammer has a cryptic answer when asked about that during his latest appearance on Today with Hoda and Jenna. Watch it below:

Understandably, Grammer cannot reveal plot specifics about the Frasier reboot, including if it’s going to revisit his old pub. However, it’s interesting that he has an idea of what the Cheers bar has become today, saying:

“There’s mention of a certain bar. I had heard it had gone kind of [belly up].”

Why The Frasier Reboot Needs To Visit Cheers

When the Frasier reboot on Paramount+ was initially announced, it was revealed to be set in an entirely new city. Therefore, it was a bit of a shock when it was revealed that the snooty psychiatrist will revisit his old stomping grounds. Plot specifics for the show are still scant at the moment, but Frasier and Lilith’s son, Freddy is expected to play an important role in the reboot.

Since the Frasier reboot is set to be the third and final act for the character, it only seems fitting that he revisits the Cheers bar — assuming that it’s still there, considering that it was where he got his TV start. Narratively, he spent almost a decade hanging out with Sam and the rest of the crew in that pub, and for a while, they were his family away from home. Despite being socially awkward, Cheers was his comfort place, so it would be great to see him reminisce about his younger days drinking beer and talking about everything.

Grammer said that the Frasier reboot was inspired by Roseanne‘s return. Considering The Conners‘ penchant for leaning into nostalgia, it only seems fitting that the Paramount+ show does the same. Seeing Frasier step back into the same Boston-set Cheers bar four decades after he first entered it would definitely be a special treat for long-time fans.
