Witcher Remake Fixes The Same Problem As FF7 Remake (But Not TLOU)

[ad_1]

Players rejoice over remakes for games like The Witcher and Final Fantasy VII, but for titles like The Last Of Us, they tend to be less excited.

Players are more welcoming to titles like the original Witcher being remade, but for more recent games like The Last Of Us, a remake doesn’t really seem necessary. When it was revealed that The Last Of Us would be getting a remake for PS5, many fans were left scratching their heads. Developer Naughty Dog claimed that substantial additions were made to the remake including its award-winning accessibility options introduced in The Last Of Us Part II. Although these inclusions were praised, players were more concerned about other justifications for having a remake. However, it seems like a Witcher remake is actually necessary.

Some players feel that PlayStation’s remakes and remasters are making similar mistakes with every release. The main point of criticism of The Last Of Us remake was the fact that the original received a remaster on PS4 years ago in 2014. In comparison, The Witcher launched in 2008 exclusively on PC. Games like FF7 Remake also feel valid because the original Final Fantasy VII was released in 1997. FF7 has been rereleased on modern platforms, but The Witcher is still only playable on PC. With its remake, a majority of players that were introduced to The Witcher series with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt can now play the first installment for the first time.

The Witcher Remake Can Add Content TLOU Part 1 Didn’t

The Last Of Us Part 1 Remake Joel TLOU Remastered

Players were upset with The Last Of Us remake because the original game is only two console generations old, and technically one if the remastered version is counted. Players had no issues with either. The Witcher remake will make replaying the series fun. The first game didn’t age so well from a gameplay perspective and the same could be said for FF7 in terms of its visuals.

Although some consider the original graphics of FF7 to be charming or nostalgic, seeing its world come to life in more detail than ever before is something players have always dreamed of. This is something that Final Fantasy 7 Remake was able to provide. The Last Of Us Part I is definitely more graphically impressive than its remaster, but it’s more or less a one-for-one of the original with current-gen visuals, so the Witcher remake seems to have more in common with FF7R. The reason why The Witcher needs a remake is that it isn’t as available to players and doesn’t really hold up to today’s standards. Final Fantasy VII got a remake because of fan demand, and because it was released more than two decades ago on less powerful hardware.

Regardless of one’s personal thoughts on everything new in TLOU Part I remake, a majority of players weren’t really demanding for it to be remade. The remaster for The Last Of Us was suitable enough, and some can’t even distinguish the difference between the remake and the remaster in certain screenshots. For Final Fantasy VII and The Witcher, remakes are more justifiable. Hopefully in the future developers will prioritize older games and titles that are more deserving.
