WWE 2K22 SummerSlam Teaser Trailer Reveals March Release

[ad_1]

Visual Concepts finally unveils more of WWE 2K22 with a new teaser trailer at SummerSlam, as well as announcing the new game’s launch window.

Wrestling fans have finally gotten their first full look at the upcoming WWE 2K22 during this weekend’s SummerSlam pay-per-view event, including a teaser trailer and a March 2022 release window. 2K’s mainline wrestling series is finally returning to the ring after the cancellation of WWE 2K21 last year, promising that its newest squared circle simulation will “hit different” than the glitch-ridden WWE 2K20.

WWE 2K22 was first announced during the two-night WrestleMania 37 pay-per-view in April, with a brief 30-second snippet of gameplay footage featuring fan-favorite luchador Rey Mysterio and a look at the game’s logo. Since then, additional details and positive word of mouth about WWE 2K22 have been slowly circulating, as Visual Concepts creative director Lynell Jinks teased a look at some of the motion capture techniques used to bring WWE Superstars into the game world in May. Much more recently, the development team released a couple of WWE 2K22 Edge screenshots on social media, giving more insight into how WWE 2K22 will look when it finally launches next year.

A new teaser trailer for WWE 2K22 aired during Saturday’s SummerSlam pay-per-view event, showing off several WWE Superstars in action and revealing its launch window of March 2022. It is now available to view on the official WWE 2K YouTube account for those who missed SummerSlam’s initial airing. Not included in this trailer but still noteworthy is 2K Games and Visual Concepts’ plans for another WWE 2K22 announcement in January, which will detail the game’s various features and modes in full and reveal WWE 2K22’s cover art.

2K Games and Visual Concepts are already facing a difficult challenge in trying to shake off the bad reputation gained from WWE 2K20’s sour launch 2019, as well as the lukewarm response to the arcade-style WWE 2K Battlegrounds last year. Since then, WWE has recently released several popular wrestlers over the past few months, reportedly leading to Daniel Bryan’s removal from WWE 2K22’s roster. Furthermore, rival promotion AEW will likely release its own wrestling game next year, which is being made by former WWE 2K developer Yukes. This could give WWE 2K22 some potentially fierce competition, mirroring the real-life ratings battle that takes place between the two wrestling companies every week.

This year’s SummerSlam was already an exciting showcase of WWE action, and the new look at WWE 2K22 made things even more interesting for those waiting to step into the virtual ring once more. They will get their chance to do so when WWE 2K22 finally launches in March, and it could serve as a promising face turn for Visual Concepts following its rough start as a representative of the WWE gaming brand.
