‘National Treasure 3′ Is In the Works With Nicolas Cage Returning Following Disney+ Series

Nicolas Cage might be back to steal the Declaration of Independence in a new National Treasure movie.

If you missed it, Disney+ recently releases a series inspired by the star’s popular movie franchise. National Treasure: Edge of History premiered earlier this month and features the likes of Catherine Zeta-Jones.

However, the biggest question from fans was if Nicolas would ever return for a new movie, and we officially have something to look forward to.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed to E News that a third National Treasure movie starring Nicolas was in development earlier this week. They also revealed how the new series came to be.

“We said we’d like to make another National Treasure and they said, ‘Sure, let’s come up with a new cast,’” he explained. “At the same time, we were developing National Treasure for the theaters with Nicolas Cage — which we still are. So, that’s ongoing.”

The movie has been discussed since at least 2018, but roadblocks have waylaid it in the past.

The outlet noted that Edge of History also teases more for the future. How so? National Treasure alum Justin Bartha (who plays Riley) is in the series, and his character hints at future plans with Nicolas and his character.

All we can say for sure is that we’ll have to wait and see what comes from it, but we’re crossing our fingers!

Although he hasn’t commented on this, Nicolas spilled some tea on his dream Broadway role.
