Olivia Munn and John Mulaney celebrated their son Malcolm‘s first birthday with a whole lot of chocolate cake.

The actor shared a carousel of images and a handful of video clips from her baby’s big day on Instagram on Sunday to mark the occasion. She wrote alongside the candid snaps, “Just got back from celebrating ONE YEAR of the most joyful baby being in this world and in our lives. My son, my joy. Happiest Birthday, Malcolm Hiệp! I love you so so so much.” In a number of the photos, Malcolm sits in his dad’s lap wearing a knit crown with a “1” on it while shoveling handfuls of chocolate cake into his mouth. In another shot, the whole family sits smiling while Munn holds up her son’s cake shaped like an elephant with pink ears. In a different post, the X-Men: Apocalypse star shared a video of her mom taking a piece of cake and feeding it to Malcolm when he was hesitant about trying it. Munn captioned the clip, “when your Asian mom gets impatient,” adding, “For what it’s worth, he did start eating the cake after that.”

Munn and Mulaney first announced the birth of their son in December of last year, sharing a photo of the newborn wearing a light blue beanie and wrapped in a blanket. “Meet Malcolm Hiệp Mulaney,” the comedian wrote at the time. “He has his whole life ahead of him. He hasn’t even tried seltzer yet. I’m very in love with him and his whole deal. Happy Holidays.” In June, Mulaney also shared during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers that he is loving being a new dad, telling the host that Malcolm, “got me a plethora of gifts. I woke up, and I had breakfast with him. And his new thing is when I turn the phone on and it’s in selfie mode and I put it on video, he grabs it and slowly brings the camera into his mouth. So, all his films have the same twist ending.”

In September, shortly before the birth of his first child, Mulaney made another appearance on Late Night during which he confirmed that he and Munn were expecting their first child. “I got into this relationship that’s been really beautiful with someone incredible,” he said. “And we’re having a baby together.” He added that, after getting out of rehab earlier that year following an intervention staged Meyers and many other friends, “I’m so grateful to you and to everyone there for saving my life. That night, I was not grateful. You guys saved me from drugs, and Olivia and this baby have helped save me from myself in this early journey out of recovery. I don’t have a joke for that. I’m really grateful to you, buddy.”
