Patty Jenkins Breaks Silence On Wonder Woman 3 & Rogue Squadron Reports

Patty Jenkins is opening about the recent rumors regarding Wonder Woman 3 and Rogue Squadron.

The current iteration of Wonder Woman 3 is said to be dead in the water as James Gunn and Peter Safran continue figuring out their plans for the futre of the DC Universe. However, Wonder Woman 3 director Patty Jenkins is refuring reports that she walked away from the movie amid this period of uncertainty at the DC Universe.

Last night, Patty Jenkins took to Twitter to share a lenghty statement about her involvement with Wonder Woman 3. Jenkins also took this opportunity to provide an update on her Star Wars movie Rogue Squadron, which was believed to be dead after Disney took it off its release calendar.

“I originally left Rogue Squadron after a long and productive development process when it became clear it couldn’t happen soon enough and I did not want to delay WW3 any further,” Jenkins wrote.

“When I did, Lucasfilm asked me to consider coming back to RS after WW3, which I was honored to do, so I agreed. They made a new deal with me,” Jenkins continued. “In fact, I am still on it and that project has been in active development ever since. I don’t know if it will happen or not. We never do until the development process is complete, but I look forward to its potential ahead.”

Jenkins went on to add that she does “not want what has been a beautiful journey with WW to land on a negative note. I have loved and been so honored to be the person who got to make these last two Wonder Woman films. She is an incredible character. Living in and around her values makes one a better person every day. I wish her and her legacy an amazing future ahead, with or without me.”

Jenkins ended her statement by singing the praises of Wonder Woman stars Lynda Carter and Gal Gadot. She also thanked the fans of the franchise for their support over the years.

“Wonder Woman fans are often not the most visible in the media and online, but I want you to know that we have always seen and celebrated you and your importance. You were first and foremost in our minds every day we made the last two films. You are the best and most loving people and I look forward to always celebrating you,” added Jenkins.

James Gunn and Peter Safran now in charge of DC’s film, television and animations efforts at Warner Bros. Discovery, bringing the company’s comic book-related assets under one roof. Gunn is said to be focusing on the creative direction of the DCU while Safran is handling things that are related to business and production.

Shazam! Fury of the GodsThe FlashBlue Beetle and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom are currently in various stages of post-production at Warner Bros. Discovery, with all four DC Universe movies slated to hit theaters in 2023. Will the characters from those movies make appearances in the new DCU? Only Gunn and Safran know.
