[ad_1]

Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg is engaged and already planning a wedding for the spring.

The Grand Ducal Court of Luxembourg formally announced on Monday that the only daughter of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa is engaged to Nicolas Bagory. A formal statement posted to the royal family’s website reads, “Their Royal Highnesses the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess are delighted to announce the engagement of their daughter, Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra, to Mr Nicolas Bagory.” The announcement goes on to share a bit about Bagory, who is 33 years old and grew up in Brittany, France. The groom-to-be studied political science and classics in college before going on to work in social and cultural projects. The court concluded by confirming that the wedding “will take place in the spring” and “The two families join in the happiness of the engaged couple by surrounding them with their affection.”

Along with that statement, the royals also released an official portrait of the newly-betrothed couple. In the photo, Bagory wears a navy blue suit and a dark green tie, while Alexandra wears a lavender dress with matching jacket and a heart-shaped pendant necklace. Her new engagement ring is also just visible in the shot and appears to be composed of a thick gold band encrusted in diamonds and colored gemstones.

Princess Alexandra is the fourth child of the Grand Duke and Duchess. She is sixth in line for the throne behind her eldest brother, Grand Duke Guillaume, Guillaume’s 2-year-old son Prince Charles, her older brother Prince Félix, his 8-year-old daughter Princess Amalia and 6-year-old son Prince Liam. Alexandra also has one younger brother, Prince Sébastien, and another older brother Prince Louis who relinquished his claim to the thrown in 2006 in order to marry a commoner, Tessy Antony. They went on to divorce in 2019, but share two sons, 16-year-old Prince Gabriel and 15-year-old Prince Noah.

The princess’s forthcoming marriage marks the first wedding in the Luxembourg royal family in almost a decade. The last wedding took place between Prince Félix and his wife Claire Lademacher in September 2013 in a ceremony held at the Basilique Sainte Marie-Madeleine in Vézelay, France.
