R. Kelly: Photos Of The R&B Singer & Convicted Sex Offender

R. Kelly, born Robert Sylvester Kelly in Chicago, Illinois on January 8, 1967, is a once-celebrated, now disgraced singer and producer. The R&B artist became famous for his smooth voice and prolific songwriting. He won three Grammy Awards for “I Believe I Can Fly” and is behind hits like “Ignition – Remix,” “I’m a Flirt” (feat. T.I. & T-Pain), “Bump n’ Grind”, and more.

R. Kelly faced allegations of sexually abusing teens for decades before being brought to justice. He illegally married singer Aaliyah when she was underage in 1994. In 2002, he was indicted on 21 counts of making child sexual abuse material, but the 2008 trial resulted in a jury acquittal for Kelly on all counts.

Despite this, the accusations continued to follow him. He was the subject of the 2019 documentary ‘Surviving R. Kelly’ and afterward he was brought up on multiple charges in New York state. After being found guilty of sex trafficking and racketeering in Sep. 2021, he was sentenced to 30 years in prison in June. 2022. He was convicted of 6 counts of creating child sexual abuse material on Sep. 14, 2022, and sentenced to another 20 years. In a minor win for the defense, a judge granted Kelly the right to serve his sentences concurrently.
