Rihanna Confirms She’s Pregnant After Her 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Performance

[ad_1]

On Sunday night, Rihanna wore a custom Loewe jumpsuit during the Super Bowl Halftime Show, which revealed a baby bump and raised speculation on social media about a potential second pregnancy. After the star concluded her 12-minute performance at Arizona’s State Farm Stadium, her reps confirmed to People and The Hollywood Reporter that she and her partner A$AP Rocky are expecting another child.

The news comes on the heels of the star’s return to the stage after five years away. During an interview with CBS’s Nate Burleson last week, she hinted that she might have news to share. “I’m thinking about bringing someone, I’m not sure,” she said when Burleson asked if she would be performing with any guests. “We’ll see.” (Later, the host said “Bingo” on Twitter when a viewer asked if the baby was the guest.)

The couple became parents when their son was born in May 2022. She first posted a video of him on her TikTok account last month, but she has not revealed his name. Though her 2016 album Anti, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, produced the number one single “Work,” and was critically acclaimed, the singer has been focusing on her interests outside of music. In September 2017, she launched Fenty Beauty as a part of a deal with LVMH, and in May 2018, she launched the lingerie brand Savage X Fenty.

The news means that new music could be very delayed. Rihanna’s last single was “Lift Me Up,” her contribution to the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which was also co-written by Nigerian singer Tems, composer Ludwig Göransson, and the film’s director Ryan Coogler. It was her first release as a solo artist since the 2016 release of the single “Love on the Brain.”

During an interview with Apple Music before the show, the star spoke about her headspace as she has been making new music. “Musically, I’m feeling open. I’m feeling open to exploring, discovering, creating things that are new, things that are different, things that are off, weird, might never make sense to my fans,” she teased. “I just want to play. I just want to have fun with music.”
