Ruby Rose says cryptic post about The Veronicas was triggered by ‘broken’ photo

Australian actress Ruby Rose is in Australia and addressing that cryptic post about The Veronicas and her ex, Jessica Origliasso.

Speaking on Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa, Rose, 36, said a post she made to her Instagram Stories three weeks ago was a “trauma reaction” following an intense filming schedule and recalling bad memories.

“I had, I guess, a bit of a trauma reaction, and then posted online – something stupid, like, ‘So many people are going to be angry’ when’ that’s sort of not really the truth,” she said on the radio program.

“I just was really hurt in that moment and definitely lashed out and I need to be away from social media at those times,” she added.

The post the actress is referring to involves some recent text posts she made to her Instagram Stories while writing her upcoming book.

“The truth. It will piss off a lot of people, but maybe you should have been better?” the actor wrote in one particularly telling post. “Excited to be free. Excited to tell the truth. On the sisters? You’re first. How horrific you were,” she adds, obviously referring to The Veronicas sisters, Jessica and Lisa Origliasso.

Jessica and Rose dated in 2008. The pair broke things off but rekindled their relationship in 2016 and dated until April 2018. The split was messy and saw some very awkward online tit-for-tat between the pair in the months following.

Rose went on to say that it was an old photo from the Pitch Perfect 3 premiere that triggered her and caused her to lash out.

“To be honest, I stumbled across [the picture] and I’d forgotten… I mean, I’m emaciated,” she said on the program. “I’m just dissociated, I look so broken, and I got filled with rage, because I was like, ‘How did I let it get that bad’. And why was I? And so that’s why I wrote what I wrote.”

Rose confirmed that at the time of the premiere she was dating Jessica Origliasso – the pair had a very public and messy break-up just months later.

Rose went on to describe her book, which she insists will not be a Prince-Harry-style tell-all memoir.

”[It’s about] how to find your way through dark times in a way that, you know, you can keep it together and find inspiration and light,” Rose said.

“I want it to be more of an inspiring book, as opposed to, you know, it’s not a revenge book, and it’s not a gossip book.”

Rose said that the book isn’t “all about” her relationship with The Veronicas, and will also cover her traumatic experience breaking her neck in 2019 while filming stunts for the Batwoman film.
