Jax Taylor may have claimed on Thursday that his estranged wife Brittany Cartwright had returned home amid their separation. But, according to insiders, that is not the case.

Just as photos of Brittany, 35, moving into a rental home were shared online, sources confirmed she and Jax, 44, are not living together, despite Jax’s claims, and that the former Vanderpump Rules couple is instead continuing to take time apart from one another after just under five years of marriage.

On March 1, insiders told TMZ that Jax and Brittany, who will be seen alongside one another in the upcoming Pump Rules spinoff, The Valley, had been fighting a lot over the past year and that they both needed some distance.

Although Brittany did visit their shared home on Thursday, she was not moving back into their $1.9 million home but rather gathering some of her stuff to take to her new rental home.

In photos shared by Page Six on Friday, Brittany was seen taking her belongings into the new residence.

As for their 2-year-old son, Cruz Michael Cauchi, he’s been traveling back and forth between his family home and Brittany’s rental.

According to TMZ’s sources, Jax and Brittany’s separation, which she confirmed on their podcast, When Reality Hits with Jax and Brittany, was a long time coming. The insiders also said the couple was not fighting about anything in particular, nor had either party been unfaithful.

On Thursday’s episode of When Reality Hits with Jax and Brittany, Brittany cited her mental health as her reason for moving out of her shared home with Jax.

“Marriages in general are very hard and I’ve had a particularly rough year in mine this past year. Jax and I are taking time apart and I made the decision to move into another home to take some space for the sake of my mental health,” she stated.

“I won’t get into too many details right now because this is still very hard to talk about, and I’m taking things one day at a time. I don’t know what the future holds, but right now, my focus is on being the best mom to Cruz,” she added.

Hours later, as he exited a Los Angeles gym, Jax denied they were headed for divorce and claimed Brittany was back at their marital home.

“This is not divorce,” he told Page Six. “We’re just taking some time apart and just trying to reassess our situation and, you know, we have a child involved and we want to do what’s best for our kid.”

Then, when asked how it’s been living separately, Jax alleged, “We’re living in our home right now. She was in a house for a while, but she’s back now. We’re trying to figure it out.”

Amid their marital drama, Brittany took to her Instagram Story to share a cryptic post about life.

“If a woman holds the power to create life, she also holds the power to create the life she wants,” her message read.

Jax also commented on a post shared by the Ortegaspartyof6 Instagram page that shared a quote saying, “”Talk to your spouse more kindly than you talk to anyone else in the world. Far too often we speak the harshest to the people closest to us.”

Jax commented on February 16, writing: “I am guilty of this thanks for the reminder… 🙌❤.” A screenshot of Jax’s comment is below as shared by the Realmomsofbravo Instagram page.

The Valley season one is expected to begin airing on Bravo sometime this spring.
