You’re going to see these jackets everywhere this spring

[ad_1]

As the weather begins to warm up again (ish) and we start to look for transitional layers to take us into spring 2023 and beyond, denim jackets are what we’ve got our eyes set firmly on.

While the likes of leather jackets (or vegan leather), trench coats and other spring jackets are no doubt well-suited for the wishy-washy weather conditions we’ll experience between now and summer, there’s something about the versatility of denim that renders it one of the very few fabrics to never be out ‘fashion’. No matter the season.

Brought to life circa 1880 by denim legend and Levi’s founder Levi Strauss, the jean jacket was created as a utility garment for railroad engineers, miners and the like to wear during the gold rush out West – hence the silhouette’s ‘cow boy-esque’ credentials. Reaching peak popularity in the late 1970s/80s, denim jackets are a mainstay of the catwalks we see today; just look to Loewe, Victoria Beckham and Givenchy for confirmation.

Need we even utter the words ‘double denim trend’ either? We’re seeing that trend everywhere at the moment with the fashion set pairing their best denim jackets with their best jeans (high-rise, low-rise, mom and straight) for a less intense take on Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake’s 00s look.

Even if that’s not for you, let’s face it, women’s denim jackets are a capsule wardrobe must-have. Slung over the shoulders of your favourite summer dresses/wedding guest dresses or used to replace your blazer for after-work drinks, they have an undeniably easy-to-wear (and style) attitude we just can’t shake.

If you’re after something timeless and classic, you can’t beat this 90s Trucker Jacket or Everlane’s The Everyone Denim Jacket. For something a little more unusual and statement, although no less versatile, Waven have created this cropped faux fur-trimmed denim jacket which pinches you in at the waist and adds to the overall silhouette without sacrificing the comfy-casual aesthetic.

Another unusual take comes via Lafayette 148 who have nailed it with their suede-panelled incarnation, while GUCCI have just released a logo-emblazoned design in the classic fabric.
