Djokovic and Kyrgios have quiet chat ahead of Wimbledon final rematch

[ad_1]

Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios exchanged words ahead of their Wimbledon final rematch at the World Tennis League on Wednesday as tennis’ unlikely duo reunited in Dubai. Djokovic’s Falcons are taking on Kyrgios’ Eagles, with the pair set to do battle in the final match of the tie. During the mixed doubles, they could be seen fist-bumping and having a quiet chat at the net ahead of their blockbuster showdown later in the evening.

Djokovic and Kyrgios are reigniting their rivalry and their friendship this week in Dubai, as the world No 5 and 22 are competing at the inaugural World Tennis League – a mixed-gender tournament that sees teams go head-to-head in a mixed doubles and two singles matches.

The pair that share self-confessed a “bromance” are on opposing teams this week as the Serb is part of the Falcons with Aryna Sabalenka, Paula Badosa and Grigor Dimitrov while the 27-year-old joins Bianca Adreescu, Carolina Garcia and Rohan Bopanna on team Eagles. And they will face off in Wednesday’s men’s singles match to help get their respective squads into Saturday’s final, as they meet for the first time since this year’s Wimbledon final – won by Djokovic in four sets.

Ahead of their rematch, the two men were spotted meeting up at the net during one of the changeovers in the mixed doubles match – eventually won by the Falcons’ Sabalenka and Dimitrov. Djokovic approached the Aussie and fist-bumped him before they could be seen having a quick discussion that couldn’t be picked up by the cameras.
