Super Bowl betting favourite
The No. 1 choice: Kansas City Chiefs (+600)
The Chiefs are the betting favourites to repeat as Super Bowl champs.
Kansas City, a slim betting underdog for Super Bowl 57, trailed by 10 at halftime before hanging 24 on the Eagles in the second half to win its second title of the Patrick Mahomes era.
The Chiefs won on a 27-yard field goal as time was expiring to complete a memorable comeback.
With Mahomes — the regular season and Super Bowl MVP — under centre, it’s hard to argue with Kansas City’s spot atop the odds leaderboard. The superstar quarterback has led his team to five consecutive AFC Championship games and three Super Bowl appearances since taking over as the starter.
Simply put, the road through the AFC must go through Mahomes at some point.
Of course, a wager on Kansas City also includes backing a coaching staff that features some of the best minds in the game. Andy Reid’s ability to scheme an offensive game plan is second to none, while Steve Spagnuolo continues to find ways to get the most out of his defences.
If there’s one area for concern, it’s at wide receiver. Both Mecole Hardman and JuJu Smith-Schuster are unrestricted free agents, leaving the team very thin at the position. Of course, Travis Kelce takes a lot of pressure off the wideouts.

Best value: Jacksonville Jaguars (+2,800)
Winning the AFC South seems like just the beginning for Jacksonville.
The Jaguars won six consecutive games and seven of their last eight to end the season. Their run included wins over playoff teams like the Baltimore Ravens and Dallas Cowboys before a victory over the Tennessee Titans in Week 18 to clinch the division.
Trevor Lawrence broke out in his second season, finishing the year with 4,113 passing yards, 25 touchdowns and eight interceptions. It helped to have Super Bowl-winning head coach Doug Pederson at the helm, as he brought some semblance of normalcy to the team at all levels.
The biggest knock against the Jags was their lack of talent at wide receiver, but they’ll benefit from the return of Calvin Ridley. They acquired him at last year’s trade deadline, and the star wideout totalled 1,374 receiving yards in his last full season.
Team to watch: Los Angeles Rams (+3,300)
Nothing went right for Los Angeles this past season.
Following a win in Super Bowl 56, the team’s season started with a 31-10 loss to the Bills and never gained any momentum. The Rams finished the season 5-12, and both Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp missed eight games each due to injury.
But the band is back together for another run next year. Stafford announced he’s returning after dealing with a concussion and Kupp will be fine despite suffering a high-ankle sprain. Head coach Sean McVay also intends to return as head coach, which is a major boost to the organization.
The team’s core is aging, but the NFC is devoid of many high-end contenders. If Stafford and company can return to form, there aren’t many teams in their way.
