Report: Packers open to moving Rodgers if QB requests trade

[ad_1]

The Green Bay Packers are willing to move on from four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers if the star quarterback requests a trade, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports.

In order to facilitate a trade, Rodgers would need to rework his contract for salary-cap purposes.

Teams have already contacted the Packers about a possible deal, with the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets emerging as potential destinations, according to Pelissero, but Green Bay has notified other clubs that it is too early to start negotiations.

If Rodgers decides to return to the Packers for the 2023 season, the franchise will welcome him back, Pelissero adds.

The 39-year-old signed a three-year, $150.8-million contract extension last off-season and is set to make $59.5 million in 2023.
