Despite all of these accomplishments, Anthony remains unsigned.
There’s a chance the Lakers will resign Anthony before the 2022-23 season begins, but if they don’t, it’s rumored he could end up playing for the Nuggets, Heat, Warriors, or Suns next season. The other option is a shock retirement announcement, although that seems unlikely given his performance last season.
LaMarcus Aldrige
At 37 years old, seven-time All-Star LaMarcus Aldrige has one goal in mind for the upcoming season: winning a title. He was a solid contributor off the bench for the Brooklyn Nets last season, averaging 12.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. He’s a flexible scorer and can shoot in the post or midrange. He also knows how to handle the ball and can pass effectively. He’s not going to spend significant time on the court, but he’d be an excellent addition for a playoff contending team that needs someone who can perform consistently over about 15 minutes a night.
Collin Sexton
The Cleveland Cavaliers and Collin Sexton are trying to work out a deal, so he’ll likely be playing there during the upcoming season. Although he missed most of the last season with a torn meniscus, Sexton is a talented player who’d be a solid addition to any roster. Before his season-ending injury, he’d averaged more than 20 points per game in the two previous seasons. Sexton expected to get top-level offers during the offseason, but it seems there aren’t many teams willing to pay.
DeMarcus Cousins
Although he’s no longer putting up All-Star numbers, DeMarcus Cousins has proven he’s got what it takes to contribute off the bench as a backup center. He provides rim protection and is a solid rebounder, making him attractive to teams lacking a big man. Cousins averaged the most rebounds of his career last season playing for the Nuggets and is a threat from beyond the three-point line. He’s proven that he still has what it takes to compete at an elite level in the NBA and would bring depth to any team that acquires him.
Dennis Schroder
Dennis Schroder has performed well as a starting point guard and when coming off the bench, making him an excellent option for teams looking for depth in that position. He averaged 13.5 points and 4.7 assists per game last season. The Houston Rockets traded Schroder to the Boston Celtics midseason, and the point guard didn’t miss a beat. He can shoot the ball from deep, making him a threat beyond the arc, and he’s also an efficient passer. As a veteran, he can also show younger players the ropes. It’s only a matter of time before a team signs the veteran before the upcoming season begins.
