Boubakary Soumare will not be leaving Leicester despite links to Crystal Palace, says Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers. Soumare started in the loss to Chelsea this afternoon.

“He came to me in the week and is very keen to stay now,” Rodgers said today. “He’s enjoyed his pre-season. It’s been tough for him because he thought he was on the move, but he came in and he’s committed to being here.

“I just think he will feel he doesn’t want to leave Leicester and end the story how it is. He had a difficult first year. He’s done really well over pre-season.

“A few clubs were interested in taking him, which makes him think, and makes his representatives think.

“Once we had a chat on where I see him and where he’s at, and reinforce the position to him, the importance of that, and that this can be a great year for him, having adapted last year, he was keen to stay and fight for his place.”
