Missing Brooklyn teen found dead with burns, gunshot wound to head

A teenager reported missing by his parents was discovered the next day shot in the head and with severe burn wounds, cops said Thursday.

Deandre Matthews, 19, disappeared from his East Flatbush home around 5:45 p.m. Monday, police said.

The next day, he was found on the freight train tracks on Nostrand Ave. near E. 29th St. in Flatbush, steps from Brooklyn College’s campus around 4 p.m., cops said.

Matthews was already dead when his body was discovered.

The city Medical Examiner determined he was shot in the head and had suffered smoke inhalation, according to police.

Detectives are still investigating what happened to Matthews and how he ended up on the tracks.
