A lot of people are not happy about Harry Styles‘ win at the 2023 Grammy Awards after the Recording Academy pointed out the singer’s connection to the producer of the telecast.

The 29-year-old singer won the awards for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album during the show on Sunday (February 5) at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

In the middle of the telecast, the Recording Academy posted a “fun fact” about Harry‘s connection to the producer of the Grammys.

“Fun fact: The voice at the beginning of “As It Was” is the daughter of our very own #GRAMMYs producer, @BenWinston!” the account tweeted.

For those who don’t know, Ben Winston is the longtime executive producer of The Late Late Show with James Corden and he has also been producing the Grammys telecast for CBS since 2017.

Back in 2011, Ben directed the documentary One Direction: A Year in the Making and then produced the group’s 3-D concert film in 2013, so he has known Harry for years.

Now viewers are upset that Harry won at the Grammys due to his connection to the producer of the event. It’s important to note that Ben has no input on the winners unless he’s a member of the Recording Academy. This seems to be a fun fact that the Recording Academy should’ve kept to themselves!

“he shouldn’t have been nomed for this reason alone,” one fan tweeted. Someone else wrote, “lmaooo they exposed what’s going on behind the scene 😭.”
