5 MCU Deadpool Crossovers That Really Need To Happen (& Will They?)

[ad_1]

In Deadpool 3, Marvel Studios can set up some brilliant Deadpool crossovers that need to happen in the MCU. After Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox was finalized in 2019, Ryan Reynolds was quickly confirmed to be making the move from Fox’s X-Men franchise into the MCU, getting the chance to continue his character’s story in Marvel Studios’ established shared universe. Currently, Deadpool 3 is scheduled to kick off the MCU’s Phase 6, starring Reynolds as Wade Wilson, a.k.a. Deadpool, and Hugh Jackman as Logan Howlett, a.k.a. Wolverine, reprising his iconic role, and the pair will be joined by MCU newcomer Emma Corrin as the film’s mystery villain.

In Marvel Comics, Deadpool debuted in 1990’s New Mutants #98, originally depicted as a supervillain, but later as an antihero. Deadpool quickly became a hit for Marvel, thanks to his incessant joking and tendency to break the fourth wall, something which translated perfectly into Fox’s Deadpool franchise. In the comics, Deadpool is also well-known for his crossover stories with Marvel’s other heroes, often forming an unlikely pairing, and sometimes bringing his inappropriateness into more family-friendly stories. Now that he’s coming to the MCU, many are excited to see which of Marvel Studios’ established heroes Deadpool will team up with.

Thor

Though this might seem like a very unlikely pair to interact with each other in the live-action MCU, Thor and Deadpool have actually had a few adventures together on the pages of Marvel Comics. What makes this team-up so entertaining, however, is the fact that Thor is constantly annoyed by Deadpool’s humorous antics, which often leads to the Asgardian God of Thunder killed Deadpool repeatedly, only for the mutant to pop back up. Thor’s recent comedic tones in the MCU perhaps mean this sort of storyline wouldn’t unfold, but there’s certainly precedence for him to meet Deadpool in the MCU’s Phase 6.

Recent developments have pointed to Thor not being around in the MCU for much longer, but there will likely be a chance for Thor and Deadpool to interact before the end of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga. Their two different styles of comedy would perhaps make for a very entertaining adventure between the pair. Deadpool has even already shared the screen with Thor’s right hand man, Korg, in a parody reaction video promoting Free Guy, so it’s possible that Korg could be the bridge between Thor and Deadpool in the MCU.

Sam Wilson, A.K.A. Captain America

Many Marvel Comics storylines saw Deadpool team-up with Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America, and this continued when Sam Wilson took up the mantle, just as he has now done in the MCU. The pair’s first team-up came during 2022’s Captain America: Symbol of Truth, which saw Sam Wilson’s Captain America and Joaquin Torres’ Falcon save Deadpool from his imprisonment in Doctor Doom’s Latveria. In the MCU, Anthony Mackie has already proven his adeptness at performing well in a buddy-cop scenario, thanks to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, so his next unlikely teammate could be the Merc With A Mouth himself.

The MCU’s Sam Wilson has had some fantastic comedic moments, and seeing his disbelief at Deadpool’s unusual abilities would make for some entertaining action. There would also be plenty of material for Wade Wilson to make some hilarious jokes, perhaps in comparing Sam Wilson to Steve Rogers, or even riffing off the fact that both he and the MCU’s new Captain America share a last name. With Phase 5’s Captain America: New World Order set to release only shortly before Deadpool 3, it’s very likely these two heroes will share the screen at some point in the MCU’s future.

Jennifer Walters, A.K.A. She-Hulk

Deadpool and She-Hulk is one MCU team-up that is practically inevitable. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law introduced Jennifer Walters to the MCU, played by Tatiana Maslany in a series that marked the first instance of an MCU character breaking the fourth wall. This is a case of history repeating itself, as although Deadpool is famous for breaking the fourth wall in Marvel Comics, it was actually She-Hulk who did it first. This is the primary reason that She-Hulk and Deadpool need to share the screen when Wade Wilson enters the MCU, as this would make for some hilarious and fantastic moments between the characters and the audience.

Their tendency to break the fourth wall gives She-Hulk and Deadpool a shared experience in the MCU, as they both see the world a different way from the other heroes, which could bring them closer together. This could even lead to the pair entering into a romantic relationship, as She-Hulk: Attorney at Law showed that Walters is often on the lookout for love, and has already had a fling with another hero already in the MCU, Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil. A team-up with Deadpool and She-Hulk would also create the opportunity for some epic fight sequences, always backed up with the pair’s running commentary and Deadpool’s colorful wit.

Matt Murdock, A.K.A. Daredevil

Aside from the fact that both wear red costumes, Daredevil and Deadpool couldn’t be more opposing. Daredevil is a deeply religious, often brooding and serious hero, while Deadpool is crass, loud, and regularly kills for fun and profit. Even so, the pair have shared the pages of Marvel Comics many times since their first team-up to save Typhoid Mary in 1997. However unlikely, the pair have a fantastic rapport on the page, causing them to team up in no less than fifteen annuals of the comics, partaking in many adventures together, which provides a lot of material for Marvel Studios when adapting Deadpool and Daredevil for the MCU.

While the two might seem like polar opposites, when they are together, Daredevil often shrinks down to Deadpool’s level and embraces the dark humor of his more brutal teammate. This would be fantastic to see in live-action, especially since Charlie Cox has now reprised his Netflix role of Matt Murdock in recent MCU projects. If Deadpool and She-Hulk team-up in the MCU too, this could perhaps be a source of tension between the three heroes, as She-Hulk and Daredevil worked together (and did other things together) during She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

Peter Parker, A.K.A. Spider-Man

Perhaps the most obvious team-up for any Marvel Comics fan that needs to be seen in the MCU is the one between Deadpool and Spider-Man. In the comics, these very unlikely friends battle many adversaries together, and were even featured in a 50-issue series aptly titled Spider-Man/Deadpool which premiered in 2016. On paper, Deadpool and Spider-Man are like chalk and cheese, but their crossover adventures are always packed full of humor, action, and also some heartfelt moments as the pair help each other realize who they are. This is an exciting dynamic that needs to be seen in the live-action MCU.

Tom Holland’s Peter Parker has been confirmed to have a future in the MCU, at least in another trilogy after the intense events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, so now might be the best time to see him team up with Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson after his debut in Deadpool 3. Parker has been through a lot of growth during his recent MCU adventures, so it wouldn’t feel as though a child was tagging along with Deadpool’s adventures, and the latter could in fact help Parker to feel at home in his new, very lonely world. Out of all of Deadpool’s potential MCU crossovers, this is perhaps the most exciting.
