Corpse Husband To Voice Ojiro Otori In Tribe Nine English Dub

[ad_1]

Viral YouTuber, Twitch Streamer, and musician Corpse Husband will be voicing antagonist Ojiro Otori in Funimation’s English dub of Tribe Nine.

Viral sensation Corpse Husband will be making his anime debut as Tribe Nines antagonist in the English dub of the new series. Funimation announced the Japanese anime adaptation of the Tribe Nine multimedia franchise in September 2021, which began in 2020 as a concept trailer of a video game by Too Kyo Games and Kazutaka Kodaka (Danganronpa, Akudama Drive). Yū Aoki is on as director and studio LIDENFILMS produces. The show premiered on January 10 in Japan, and it revolves around several “tribes” of youth in the futuristic city of Neo Tokyo who participate in a game called Extreme Baseball.

The popular distributor announced an English dub just over a week ago to land on their Funimation streaming platform (which acquired Crunchyroll) on January 31. The show’s principal cast of characters, the Minato Tribe, is voiced by Jacob Hopkins, Casey Mongillo, Phillip Sacramento, Brittney Karbowski, Kevin D. Thelwell, Brendan Blaber, and Joshua Waters. Sound Cadence Studios oversees the dub and includes ADR Director Marissa Lenti, Assistant ADR Director Mike Haimoto, Lead ADR Engineer Lindsay Roberts, and others.

One glaring omission from last week’s announcement was the voice of Tribe Nine’s antagonist, Ojiro Otori, who Funimation now states will be Corpse Husband. It will be the first anime role for the viral musician, YouTuber, and Twitch streamer, who became famous for his silky bass tone and Among Us gameplay. Corpse Husband also took to Twitter to share the announcement, saying, “I couldn’t have asked for a better first role.” See the full tweet below:

The Internet star regularly infuses anime into his music (like with Death Note and Devilman Crybaby references), and his naturally low voice seems to pair perfectly with the creepy and intimidating aura of Ojiro. Corpse Husband’s Japanese counterpart for the villain, who heads the Chiyoda tribe in the series, is Junichi Suwabe, known for voicing similarly daunting characters like Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez in Bleach, Ryomen Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen, and Shōta Aizawa in My Hero Academia.

With just two words uttered in the clip on Corpse Husband’s Twitter post, “How insignificant,” the musician feels ideal for the English mouthpiece of the character, whose masked face and blood-red eyes mimic his voice actor’s anonymous online persona. It is a significant gig for the performer, who was honored in Among Us by a modder who added Corpse Husband cosmetics into the game and has amassed over 100 million plays on Spotify. Fans can hear his work as Ojiro in Tribe Nine beginning in episode 2 of the English dub when the antagonist makes his debut.
