It’s the same for connected car services, with recent models capable of helping drivers locate nearby charging stations through navigation or showing the remaining range.

Japanese automaker Nissan has released several unique models since its inception. Like the others, it has unveiled an ambitious strategy for the electrification of its fleet. Nowadays, more consumers are likely to go electric, meaning that manufacturers are facing increased demand. Nissan plans to make half of its fleet all-electric and launch 15 new EVs by 2030. It also intends to expand its lithium-ion battery technology endeavor, with plans to make future batteries cobalt-free currently in progress.

Nissan Connect is a combination of multiple systems, giving drivers access to many functions through touch and voice commands. However, the features vary among models. The Leaf is currently the only all-electric model in Nissan’s lineup, though the Ariya EV is expected to start selling soon. Nissan Connect’s features cut across four major systems – Security & Convenience, Entertainment & Information, Navigation, and Communication. New Nissan models come with three years of complimentary access to the service. There’s also a six-month free trial of Nissan Connect Premium that accompanies each vehicle purchase.

For the security and convenience aspect, drivers get remote access to their Nissan using the Connect service on their smartphones. They can also use an Alexa-enabled device or Google Assistant. Also available is the Automatic Collision Notification feature which can reach a live response specialist using a hands-free voice call. The system also provides regular maintenance alerts which keeps Nissan owners aware of their vehicle’s health. For the entertainment aspect, drivers can listen to music in the car using their smart devices. Aside from Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, other infotainment services include Sirius XM radio, Trip Advisor, and more.

With Nissan Connect’s Navigation package, drivers can be guided to their various destinations without much effort. This is made possible through the duo of visual maps and turn-by-turn visual directions. Standard features include Door-to-Door Navigation, Online Search with Google, Journey Planner, Sirius XM Traffic, OTA update compatibility, and more. For an enhanced communication experience, there are several functions designed to help drivers stay connected through touch and voice commands. For instance, Nissan Connect‘s Hands-free Text Messaging Assistant can read out new messages and can also send preloaded responses using voice recognition tech.
