See Ryan Gosling Become Marvel’s Ghost Rider As Nic Cage’s Successor

[ad_1]

Following Ryan Gosling’s revelation that he would like to play Ghost Rider in the MCU, a striking new concept design shows him taking over the role of the Spirit of Vengeance from Nicolas Cage.

Johnny Blaze, Marvel’s original Ghost Rider, originally appeared on the big screen in 2007’s Ghost Rider, with Nicolas Cage in the title role. Cage appeared in two films as the Spirit of Vengeance, before the character was rebooted for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC, which introduced the Robbie Reyes version of the character to the MCU.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. offered a brief look at the MCU’s Johnny Blaze, though only in his Ghost Rider form. This leaves the door open for a new actor to portray Blaze in a future live-action Marvel project. Ryan Gosling recently revealed Ghost Rider is the Marvel hero he would most like to play.

Following Ryan Gosling naming Ghost Rider his top choice of Marvel role, a new concept design from artist “clements.ink” on Instagram has revealed how Gosling might look as Nic Cage’s replacement for the part. Check out the concept design below.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige seems to be on board with the idea. When asked about Ryan Gosling’s Ghost Rider comments at San Diego Comic-Con, Feige said “Ryan’s amazing. I’d love to find a place for him in the MCU.” It sounds like there could be hope for the star of The Gray Man to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the motorcycle-riding Spirit of Vengeance.

Ryan Gosling’s Ghost Rider would certainly be in good mystical company in the MCU. Mahershala Ali is gearing up to star in Marvel’s Blade reboot, Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha: Coven of Chaos is set to launch on Disney Plus at the end of next year, and Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange continues to oversee all things mystical and otherworldly.

Ryan Gosling has already been mixing with MCU royalty for his latest film The Gray Man. The Netfix feature saw him sharing the screen with Marvel’s Captain America star Chris Evans. It was also directed by Avengers veterans Joe and Anthony Russo.
